Prior to this a number of students took the opportunity to present their credentials in a 2 minute speech. There were wonderful anecdotes of students wanting to begin their leadership journey, others deciding to throw their hat in the ring after sitting on the sidelines for a couple of years, and even one who promised a free sausage sizzle if students voted for them.
6 students ( 3 boys and 3 girls) made it through to the final ballot.
Unfortunately we were unable to have 6 councillors and it is always hard to miss out.
The final results were:
Student Council : Girl - Amelia Tainui Boy - Cormac Tobin
Deputy Girl - Zoe Dryden Deputy Boy - Oscar Andersen
Congratulations to all those who put their names forward. You can be very proud of yourself.
Given the desire of many students to be involved in a leadership position we are looking at establishing a Room 9 class council run by students. Watch this space.
